Barcelona is being persuaded to release the player in January by a Champions League team.
Barcelona has made it clear that there won’t be any inbound or outbound transfers during the January transfer window.
However, that won’t stop others from attempting to persuade them to do so. While negotiations continue for Pablo Torre, a creative midfielder, Girona will resume their pursuit of Eric Garcia.
Michel Sanchez is the only manager who would allow Garcia to leave the Blaugrana, and Girona will attempt to persuade Barcelona to release the 23-year-old in January, according to Relevo.
Since he will drop to the bottom of the defensive hierarchy as Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araujo return from injury to compete with Pau Cubarsi and Inigo, their biggest challenge is whether Barcelona views him as their midfield substitute for Marc Casado.
Garcia was one of Girona’s top players on his loan there last season. Although Garcia has played 13 games this season, totalling 541 minutes, he has only started once since the start of October, in a loss to Leganes. Seven of his 13 appearances were in midfield.
